Projects

Sustainable Hair Mats for Oil Spills and Agriculture

Through the use of needle felting machine we can produce hair mats. Hair Mats have  different purposes both for wild and urban environments. Such as:

- Soak up oil
-
Help with soil erosion prevention
- Help with agriculture

Oil Spill Clean Up Mats

Oil enters our waterways from large spills, leaky vehicles, chemicals dumped into storm drains, accidents, and more.

In a study by NASA, human hair is shown to adsorb five times its weight in oil.

Hair mats in water will soak up oil at a rapid rate, working faster than any polypropylene booms. They must be removed from the water quickly though, as there is no plastic used to keep the mat buoyant, and it can be weighed down by rocks, seaweed, and other natural matter.

Soil Restoration

  • 40% less water used for irrigation

  • Reduce the greens around the plant

  • The fruits grow bigger

  • Erosion Control Blanket
